Situated just south of The Loop and bordering Chinatown, Radius is easily accessible off I 90/94, making it a convenient and enticing spot for concertgoers. As I arrived for the Adrenaline Gone Ballistic Holiday Tour, featuring Daughtry, the energy in the air was electric, with fans buzzing with anticipation for a night of exhilarating performances.

Kicking off the evening was Devour The Day, a band hailing from Memphis, TN. Formed in 2012, the group's creation followed the end of Egypt Central, with bassist Joey Chicago playing a key role in its inception. As they took the stage, the crowd's excitement was palpable. Devour The Day opened with Respect, setting a high-energy tone that resonated throughout the venue.

“My Dad told me music has the power to save someone, pick people up and put them back on their feet”

The performance of Nobody Owns Me and their first-ever written song, Good Man, showcased their prowess in connecting with both die-hard fans and newcomers. The setlist continued with Worse Than Death and the fresh track Outsider, before concluding with the powerful duo of The Bottom and Empty. By the end of their set, Devour The Day had undoubtedly expanded their fan base, leaving the crowd eager for more.

Next up was another Memphis band, Sleep Theory, formed in 2020. Despite their relatively recent formation, their performance suggested years of experience and polish. Lead singer Cullen Moore made a dramatic entrance, rolling onto the stage in a wheelchair due to a fractured foot. Yet, his energy was boundless, often standing and moving more than sitting.

Kicking off with Fallout, Sleep Theory maintained a relentless pace, captivating the audience with songs like Enough, Paralyzed, and Static. Their debut EP, released in 2023, boasts over 30 million streams, and it's clear why. The crowd hung onto every lyric and beat as Sleep Theory rounded out their set with Hourglass, Gone Or Staying, Stuck In My Head, Numb, It's Over, and Another Way.

Finally, it was time for the headliner, Daughtry. As the lights dimmed and smoke filled the stage, the anticipation reached its peak. Formed in 2006, the same year lead singer Chris Daughtry competed on American Idol, the band has become a staple in the rock music scene. The evening's excitement was amplified by Chris Daughtry's earlier announcement of having the most spins on rock radio for 2024, a remarkable achievement.

Daughtry opened their set with The Reckoning, followed by Changes Are Coming, World On Fire, and Shock To The System. Each song amplified the energy, making the night feel like a contender for the show of the year. The audience was treated to a diverse mix of songs, including Crashed and a cover of Journey's Separate Ways.

In a moment of intimacy, Chris Daughtry remained on stage with just an acoustic guitar, not taking requests from the nearly sold-out crowd, but instead playing what he wanted. The stripped-down rendition of Home turned into a heartfelt sing-along, followed by another crowd favorite, September. The band continued with Pieces, It's Not Over, Nervous, and Over You, but the audience wasn't ready to let go. Daughtry returned for an encore, delivering powerful performances of The Dam, Heavy Is The Crown, and Artificial.

As the night drew to a close, it was clear that the Adrenaline Gone Ballistic Holiday Tour had delivered a remarkable experience. Devour The Day's energetic opening set, Sleep Theory's captivating performance, and Daughtry's headline-worthy show combined to create an unforgettable evening.

Each band brought their unique flair, connecting with the crowd and leaving a lasting impression. For music fans in Chicago, Radius proved to be the perfect venue for such a high-octane event, showcasing the transformative power of live music in an artfully reimagined space.
