AmericanaFest 2024: A Five-Day Music Marathon in Nashville

AmericanaFest 2024 once again turned Nashville into a bustling hub of music, culture, and camaraderie. Over five days, attendees were treated to an eclectic mix of performances, panels, and networking opportunities that truly celebrated American roots music. With events taking place across over 30 iconic venues, there was a palpable energy in the air as artists, fans, and industry professionals came together.

This year's festival featured nearly 250 performers, each bringing their unique flair to the stage. The lineup included a blend of rising stars and seasoned veterans, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for all attendees. From intimate songwriter rounds to full-band showcases, the festival offered something for every taste.

The daytime events were packed with insightful panels and discussions. At the Country Music Hall of Fame, a panel with renowned photographer David McClister provided a deep dive into the visual history of Americana music. Meanwhile, venues like The Basement and Carter Vintage Guitars hosted unique events that allowed artists to connect directly with their fans.

The nightly showcases were the heart and soul of AmericanaFest. Each evening, venues like Cannery Hall, The 5 Spot, and The Station Inn came alive with the sounds of live music. Attendees could hop from venue to venue, catching performances from the likes of Jason Eady, Lee DeWyze, and many more.

Special events added an extra layer of excitement to the festival. The BMI Rooftop Party and Robert Earl Keen's rooftop performance at The Bobby Hotel were standout moments, providing unforgettable experiences under the Nashville sky. The festival wrapped up with the highly-anticipated Wrap Party, featuring a stellar lineup curated by Sunny Sweeney.

Overall, AmericanaFest 2024 was a vibrant celebration of music, bringing together a community of artists and fans in the heart of Music City.

Day 1 Highlights

Day 1 kicked off with the BMI Rooftop Party, setting the tone for an incredible festival. Wyatt Flores, Emily Nenni, Kade Hoffman, and The Hanseroth Twins delivered electrifying performances, creating an energetic start to the festivities. The rooftop setting offered a stunning view of Nashville, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

Later, we headed to Row One Stage at Cannery Hall for the evening showcases. Jason Eady took the stage first, captivating the audience with his soulful storytelling and heartfelt lyrics. Sophie Gault followed, her powerful voice and commanding stage presence leaving a lasting impression. Gabe Lee closed out the night with a high-energy set, blending country and rock elements that had the crowd on their feet.

Each artist brought their unique style to the stage, showcasing the diverse talent within the Americana genre. The mix of rising stars and established acts ensured a dynamic and engaging experience for everyone in attendance.

The first day of AmericanaFest 2024 was a whirlwind of musical discovery, setting a high bar for the days to come. From the stunning rooftop views to the intimate showcases, Day 1 was a testament to the rich tapestry of Americana music and the vibrant community that celebrates it.

Day 2 Experiences

The second day of AmericanaFest began with an enlightening panel at the Country Music Hall of Fame, featuring photographer David McClister. His discussion delved into the visual storytelling that has shaped the Americana genre, offering attendees a unique perspective on the intersection of music and imagery.

Next up was Peach Jam, a can't-miss annual event hosted by Ben Chapman outside The Basement. The lineup was nothing short of spectacular, featuring performances by Meg McRee, Sam Morrow, Chris Canterbury, Mando Saenz, Thomas Csorba, Emily Nenni, Kristina Murray, Tyler Halverson, Carter Faith, and Mac Leaphart. The outdoor setting and relaxed vibe made for an intimate and memorable experience, as artists shared their stories and songs with an appreciative crowd.

The evening took us to The Basement for the nightly showcases, where Gina Venier, Everette, and Mae Estes each delivered standout sets. Gina Venier's soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics set the tone, followed by Everette's high-energy performance that had the audience swaying along.

Mae Estes closed the night with her powerful vocals and captivating stage presence, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

Day 2 of AmericanaFest was a blend of insightful panels, relaxed outdoor jams, and electrifying evening showcases, capturing the essence of what makes this festival a highlight of the year for Americana music lovers.

Day 3 Unforgettable Moments

Day 3 started off strong with the Northern Lights' show at City Winery, hosted by Brandy Clark. This event has quickly become a must-attend, and this year's lineup was no exception, featuring standout performances by Caitlyn Smith, Sean McConnell, Stephanie Chapman, Olivia Wolfe, Sista Strings, and Fancy Hagood. Each artist brought their unique flair, creating an intimate atmosphere that resonated with the audience.

The day continued with a special rooftop performance by Robert Earl Keen at The Bobby Hotel. Keen’s set was both nostalgic and invigorating, as he delivered fan favorites and new material with equal passion. The rooftop setting added an extra layer of magic to the performance, making it a highlight of the festival.

The evening led us to the Gulch area of Nashville for Lee DeWyze’s showcase at Station Inn. Known for his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, DeWyze did not disappoint. His set was a captivating blend of old hits and new tracks, leaving the audience deeply moved.

Day 3 of AmericanaFest 2024 was filled with moments that underscored the depth and diversity of Americana music, from intimate gatherings to powerful performances that left a lasting impression.

Day 4 Discoveries

Day 4 of AmericanaFest 2024 started with a soulful performance by Kade Hoffman at Nelson Green Brier Distillery, setting a reflective tone for the day.

From there, it was off to Carter Vintage Guitars for Carter In The Round, hosted by Gina Venier. The first round saw April Kry, Mitch Grainger, and Stevenson Everett share their heartfelt original songs in an intimate setting. The second round brought performances from Bowen Young, Gina Venier herself, and Sean McConnell, creating a rich tapestry of storytelling and musicianship.

Later, we caught Laci Kaye Booth’s compelling showcase at Chief's On Broadway, where her powerful vocals captivated the audience.

Chief's continued to be a hotspot as it hosted a writers’ round featuring Bryan Simpson, Parker Milsap, and Caitlyn Smith, who each brought their own unique touch to the stage.

Max McNown’s debut showcase at The 5 Spot was another highlight, marking him as a promising new talent in the Americana scene.

The day concluded with Fancy Hagood’s vibrant set at The Basement, a fitting end to a day filled with musical exploration and discovery.

Day 5 Closing Events

Day 5 began with the Thirty Tigers Gospel Brunch at City Winery, where the lineup was nothing short of spectacular. Hosted by Kimberly Kelly, the event featured soul-stirring performances from The Oak Ridge Boys, Swamp Dog, Blessing, Tylar Bryant, Melissa Carper, Clover County, Lauren Hosley, The McCrary Sisters, Brit Taylor, and Robert Vincent. The brunch provided a serene yet uplifting start to the day, leaving attendees deeply moved by the spiritual and musical experience.

Following the brunch, we made our way to Analog at The Hutton Hotel for a showcase by Ashley Monroe. Her performance was both intimate and powerful, showcasing her exceptional vocal range and emotional depth.

We wrapped up our AmericanaFest experience with performances by Kristina Murray and Rissi Palmer at Cannery Hall. Both artists delivered sets that were rich in storytelling and vocal prowess, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The festival concluded with a Wrap Party hosted by Sunny Sweeney. The lineup featured Jack Ingram, Kelly Willis, Jedd Hughes, Shannon McNally, Brennen Leigh, and Radney Foster, providing a fitting end to an unforgettable five days of music, camaraderie, and celebration in Music City.
