Ashland Craft Delivers a Stellar Chicago Performance

The Young Blood Tour featuring Marcus King, Neal Francis, Comedy by Dean Delray & Ashland Craft, made a stop at one of Chicago’s legendary venues this past Friday night.

The Aragon Ballroom or what some used to call the Brawlroom played host to the Young Blood Tour, this venue holds a max capacity of 5,000 and has been hosting concerts since the early 1970s. Built-in 1926, this nearly 100-year-old ballroom/venue has seen some of the biggest names in Music & even Chicago folklore claiming Al Capone had a secret passage to the basement of the Aragon.

Growing up just a town over in South Carolina Ashland Craft joined the Young Blood Tour with Marcus King as the acoustic opener. This is the first time the two have toured together but are not strangers to one another. Marcus was a feature on “Highway Like Me” a song off Ashland’s 2021 Debut Album album Traveling Kind. Ashland took the stage for her 25-Minute all-acoustic set to open the Young Blood stop in Chicago. Dean Delray introduced the young singer/songwriter. Ashland came out like a firecracker with a voice, unlike anything Country Music has heard in a long time. The rasp is just enough to pull you in, then when you dig into her lyrics you are hooked. A mostly all-original set, Ashland did slip in a Stapleton song to reminisce on her days of being on the Voice, but it was her originals that stood out at quickly became fan favorites with a crowd who most likely was hearing her for the first time.

We talked with Ashland Briefly and she talked about the nerves you get when you have to step out first to a crowd you don’t know but seeing a few familiar faces from her prior Carol’s Pub show helped her settle in and deliver a stellar performance for her second Chicago stop. I think her 3rd time should be a Joe’s On Weed St. show, cause Chicago is quickly becoming fans of Ashland Craft.

The Young Blood Tour is close to wrapping up its 33-date US Tour, With a Sold-Out Date in Charlotte, NC. Before closing it out in Alabama & Louisiana. Make sure to catch Ashland Craft this fall on the “Three Damn Days Tour” With Chase Rice & a few dates with Cody Johnson.
