Day 2: AmericanaFest is a Jam
We attended two events on day two, at the 2022 Americana Fest. Both were highly impressive in their own ways.
We traveled to the Analog at The Hutton Hotel. A room that holds less than 300 is set up perfect for an intimate writers’ round, I just don’t think some of the people in attendance knew what kind of treat they were in for, but if the room was any indication it was going to be a highlight. In The Round: Songs of “Yellowstone” Hosted by Andrea Von Foerster was the event, and it was packed with 3 amazing Singers/Songwriters William Prince, Lainey Wilson, & Hayes Carll. Each artist took turns telling stories about how they discovered the TV show Yellowstone and then talking about the scenes in which their songs appeared.
William Prince pretty much stole the show with his vocals on his song “Lighthouse”, then teased a song off his upcoming album. The crowd was a perfect listening crowd for this writer’s round, & you could tell the artists were really enjoying it as well as each of them looked on in awe.
We then jumped across town for a parking lot jam full of special guests. The basement welcomed Ben Chapman & Co for his Peach Jam residency this time a special America Fest edition in the parking lot. They didn’t take the jam word lately either, this was a full-on out, turn-of-the-page jam straight from the 60s, Ben Chapman opened the show with guitar licks that moved the packed crowd. The guest that Ben welcomed in order was Kendell Marvel, Leah Bevins, Lainey Wilson, Brent Cobb, Channing Wilson, Carolina Story, Joshua Ray Walker, & Nate Fredrick to close out the all-star jam.
The best part was if you were left wanting more, they repeated Peach Jam that night with another round of amazing special guests. Peach Jam is a monthly residency at the basement & is strongly suggested when in Nashville. Check out our interview below W/ Kendell Marvel
