Jordan Davis Rocks Chicago After White Sox vs Rockies Win!

The White Sox might be a disappointment this season, but Jordan Davis was not. The Chicago White Sox will do anything to sell tickets at this rate including bringing award-winning country artists to play after the games. They should’ve advertised it as you pay for the concert and the game comes for free. (I’m allowed to make these jokes as I am a born and raised Southsider and lifelong White Sox fan). All jokes aside, the White Sox were able to hold off the Colorado Rockies winning 5-3. This is the 2nd concert I’ve seen after a White Sox game and the Sox have won both times. I don’t want to tell Jerry Reinsdorf how to run his team, but there might be something to this.
Despite some small showers before the game, I couldn’t have asked for a better night for an outdoor performance. The 2-hour rain delay for the slight drizzle allowed fans plenty of time to get to the stadium. The concert brought in an atypical crowd to the Southside. I felt like I was at Wrigley with the amount of fake baseball fans in the stadium. (Sorry had to throw in a Cubs dig too). It was evident that the crowd was there to see Jordan by the amount of boots seen stomping through the sections.
I was a bit of a stalker during the game and figured out that Davis and his band members were watching the game from Suite 44. Thank you improved iPhone camera capabilities. After the game the field crew laid a tarp down and fans filled the infield to watch the show. Although I did not see the field being set up, I was amazed at how fast they were able to bring out the stage and get everything ready. I splurged and bought 100-level seats that came with field passes to be close to the stage. Jordan Davis is past his small venue phase so I have no idea when I will get to see him close up at this price.
Jordan has been busy opening for Luke Combs on the “Growin’ Up and Getting’ Old Tour” as well as headlining his own “Damn Good Time” world tour with Mitchell Tenpenny and Ashley Cooke. He came out in a black #3 White Sox jersey while the rest of his band was in white away game jerseys. Davis put on a shortened set almost identical to his performance opening for Luke Combs opening with “Damn Good Time.” He did a 40-minute show of 12 of his biggest hits. He included songs off his most recent album “Bluebird Days” like “Whiskey Weak,” “Next Thing You Know,” and “Part of It.”
Jordan came with good vibes and probably more energy and movement than the stadium has seen all year. He brought out his guitar with a “Buy Dirt” guitar strap attached to play his slower songs like “Lose You” and “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot.” Davis closed with my favorite “What My World Spins Around” just as the rain was starting to begin again. Seeing Davis again was worth staying up past my bedtime and getting home at 1 AM. If you missed Jordan Davis this time around, you can catch him at the Illinois State Fair on August 13th. Stay tuned to see if the White Sox follows in Jordan’s footsteps by moving to Nashville.
