Kendell Marvel Sells Out The Backroom Lounge
In Riverton, IL, hidden in the back of a small hole-in-the-wall party store is an intimate small room/venue called " The Backroom Lounge", where guests are seated on vintage church pews. That night Kendall Marvel graced us with an amazing acoustic set. This was his second show of the night, prior he had a sold-out earlier show at the same venue. Kendell was accompanied by two fellow band members. The drummer had all different kinds of instruments at least five. My favorite type looked to be a meinl percussion pangi shaker. The other member played bass and steel guitar, which I could get lost in some steel guitar it's just the best sound.
Kendell has a grit voice and a smooth R&B mixed with a little outlaw rock country sound. A few songs that stuck with me that night were Cadillac'n, Fool Like Me, and Come On Sunshine. I got to see him open for Chris Stapleton about four years ago and he was great then, but man he was amazing tonight! He proudly shared that he has written and played with some of the biggest names in music, including Stapleton, Jamey Johnson, Gary Allan, Josh Thompson, and George Strait. He is definitely someone you need to go check out when he comes to a City near you.
