Nestled in the vibrant atmosphere of Joe's Live in Rosemont, IL, the Runnin' Outta Time Tour featuring Lily Rose promised an evening of genuine musical connection, and it more than delivered. On a night that saw the warmth of country music envelop the crowd, the performers exuded heartfelt sincerity, drawing everyone in with their authentic storytelling and raw talent.

The night began with Payton Smith, a young talent whose acoustic set laid the foundation for an evening of genuine musical expression. At just 24, the Louisiana-born singer-songwriter, who taught himself to play guitar, proved that he's a force to be reckoned with. Chicago isn't a stranger to Payton, having previously hosted him and his full band earlier this year at Carol's Pub. With just his guitar in hand, Payton graced the stage, connecting instantly with the crowd through his stories and songs.

Starting with his hit '92, he charmed the audience, joking about being born in 2000. His seamless mix of covers such as Grundy County Auction, Boot Scoot N Boogie, and a nod to his dad with Enter Sandman, demonstrated his diverse musical influences and deep love for music. Like I Knew You Would, the song that catapulted him to prominence, was a particular highlight, with the crowd entirely captivated by his performance. Payton shared a personal note with the audience, revealing his trepidation about becoming a father in early 2025, a revelation that added a layer of depth and vulnerability to the set.

He wrapped up his performance with Missed The Boat, a song about life's what ifs, and closed with a heartfelt cover of Keith Urban's Somebody Like You, leaving the stage with a resounding applause that was well-earned.

As the lights dimmed for the main act, anticipation buzzed through the crowd. Lily Rose was returning to Joe's Live for the third time in three years, and her entrance was met with an eager enthusiasm that was palpable. Opening with Even After Everything, an unreleased track gaining traction on TikTok, she instantly set the stage on fire with her vibrant energy and undeniable charisma.

Throughout her set, Lily drew from her 2021 release, Stronger Than I Am, and her recent EP, Runnin' Outta Time. I Don't Smoke was a powerful early highlight, with Lily channeling a dynamic energy that seemed to electrify the room. The storytelling prowess she displayed on True North, recounting her personal journey, was nothing short of compelling.

The night took a heartfelt turn with Truth Is, a viral hit from 2022, as the crowd sang back with fervor, each word resonating through the venue. She seamlessly blended a cover of Post Malone's I Had Some Help into the mix, before introducing another unreleased track, Drinking Bout. While she noted it was new, a few dedicated fans knew the lyrics, underscoring the deep connection she shares with her audience.

Parking Lot led into Back Pew, which was arguably a standout moment of the evening. The communal sing-along of the chorus created a sense of unity and joy that only live music can foster. Lily's performance of Every Last One, dedicated to her wife, was a touching reminder of the personal stories that fuel her artistry.

“As much as I want to sell out Madison Square Garden and win Grammys at the end of the day it’s not who I’m it’s what I do”

The Goal emerged as a true emotional high point, with Lily capturing the audience's attention completely. Her recent work, deeply personal and introspective, resonated profoundly, reflecting her growth as an artist. As the set wound down with Let You Know When I Get There, Here For It, Runnin' Out Of Time, and Know My Way Around, the energy never waned.

Closing with a poignant cover of Miley Cyrus's Flowers, transitioning into Sad For The Summer, her collaboration with Diplo, Lily Rose left the stage to a roaring demand for more. The encore began with I'd Be You, moving seamlessly into her smash hit Villain, before concluding the night with Better Than That. While my personal favorite Two Flowers was notably absent, her set was a triumph of emotional connection and musical prowess.
