Tuesday night, Texas honky-tonk band, Mike and The Moonpies made their long-awaited debut at the legendary Grand Ole Opry. Mike and the Moonpies, from Austin, Texas formed in 2007, including frontman Mike Harmeier, drummer Taylor Englert, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, bassist Omar Oyoque, and steel guitarist Zachary Moulton. The pews were filled with friends, family, and fans who traveled near and far to see this memorable occasion. After being introduced, Harmeier stepped into the Opry circle, looked around with a smile on his face, and said "wow. Thank you guys for being here from all over the country." Then went on to thank the Opry for the invite. And expressed that it "means a whole lot to this little honky-tonk band from Texas." They performed their hits, Hour on the Hour from their latest album, One to Grow On. You Look Good In Neon.

Then closed their set with Steak Night at the Prarie Rose. A song about a young boy growing up listening to a band with his dad at the Prarie Rose. And dreaming of playing there one day. Sadly, the fathers of Harmeier, Moulton, and Rutherford all passed away within the past 2 years. And, in a heartwarming moment, Harmeier dedicated the song to them. After their 3 song set, they received a standing ovation from the crowd. It's always great to see an artist make their Opry Debut. But, it's something special when it's a "little honky-tonk band from Texas."
