Ashland Craft Owns Carol's Pub in her Windy City Debut!

Ashland Craft rolled into Chicago for her first headline show, & she did not disappoint. Her 75-Minute set-list contained mostly originals from her debut album Travelin’ Kind. She kicked off her set with a Tanya Tucker classic Delta Dawn before rolling into her own classics.  Travelin’ Kind kicked off her originals, lately, Ashland has been her own Travelin’ Kind with a very busy summer. Last $20 followed up which the crowd was belting out the lyrics just as loud as Ashland. You could tell Chicago was ready for an Ashland Craft show.

The thing we love about Ashland’s vocals is the rasp she adds in all the right places, and she showcases that on Your Momma Still Does and she had to if not the Chicago crowd was going to sing this one even louder. Ashland was in control of the Carol’s Pub stage when she went into Good Ole Girl’s 2019 Single. This is when you would think the Chicago crowd might break for a drink or not sing as loud, but in true Trainwrecks fashion, they were right back singing every lyric right back to her. A cover of Chris Stapleton’s You Should Probably Leave was a good transition into another rarely heard live song Your Place or Mine which was a fan-requested song earlier in the day.

We even got a peek at a new song called As Good As It Gets. Which Ashland describes as her version of the Travis Tritt song It’s A Great Day To Be Alive. A few crowd favorites of acoustic tunes gave the band a break. Ashland kicked it off with Leavin’ You Again off her debut album, followed by another new song called Mimosas In The Morning which was quickly a Chicago fan favorite. She wrapped up the acoustic set with Make It Past Georgia and another huge sing-along with the crowd. Ashland talked about her Chicago return in the fall with Markus King before bringing her band back to the stage for her duet with Markus Highway Like Me.

She wrapped up her set in a huge way After Come Down, she picked it up with a heavy fan favorite I Smoke Weed, which is off Hardy’s Hixtape 2 & featured Brothers Osborne, but tonight it was featuring the Die-Hard Chicago crowd. A medley of American Women, followed by a tease of Rage Against The Machines Killin In The Name Of & Sweet Emotion rocked the crowd ad nearly blew the roof off the Chicago Dive Bar. Two Wildflowers And A Box Of Wine & Mile A Minute closed out the set and cemented a successful Windy City Debut. It left fans wanting more & will get that chance in just a few months when she returns to the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.
