Morgan Wade Makes Her Debut At The Mother Church
One of the fall tours I'm most excited about is Lucero's 'Where You Found Me Tour.' They have brought on the incredible Morgan Wade as the tour opener. The tour kicked off Wednesday night at the historic Ryman Auditorium, after multiple rescheduled dates due to Covid. Ian Noe was scheduled to open the show, but due to unknown circumstances, Morgan Wade joined the tour a few days early and was able to make her debut at The Mother Church.
I arrived early and made my way to our seats and heard quite a bit of chatter amongst the audience that they were disappointed that Ian Noe had canceled. From the people I spoke to, most weren't familiar with Morgan Wade. But, I assured them that they were in for a treat.
Morgan, who has one of my very favorite albums of 2021, 'Reckless,' walked onto the Ryman stage like she had played there 100 times.
Her confidence was shining as she played song after song from that album. Then surprising everyone with a stripped-down but uniquely Morgan Wade cover of "Suspicious Minds," she left the crowd wanting more. The 26-year-old Virginia native closed her set with her newly released single, "Wilder Days." Her raspy, gritty, honest voice echoed through the Ryman and proved that she was well deserving of the honor of standing on that stage and the standing ovation she received.
I like to think that all of those people sitting in the church pews who weren't familiar with her before the show, left as new fans.
Check out Morgan Wade's album 'Reckless' and catch her on tour this fall with Lucero.
