The Wilder Blue Bring Their "Toe Tapping Songs" to Sidetracks Music Hall in Huntsville, AL
One of my very favorite bands, The Wilder Blue made their way to Sidetracks Music Hall in Huntsville, AL last week. And, I'm so excited to tell you all about it!
The first time I saw The Wilder Blue perform, they opened up for another of my favorite bands, The Steel Woods at their album release show in Nashville. Prior to seeing them live, I had heard some of their music on Spotify, but I wasn't very familiar with them, yet. But as soon as they walked on stage and began to sing. I was hooked.
This was my fifth time seeing them since that first show and they were better than ever.
The Texas-based band, The Wilder Blue, made up of members Zane Williams, Paul Eason, Lyndon Hughes, Sean Rodriguez, and Andy Rogers has undeniably some of the best harmonies in music, today.
They showcased those harmonies on songs like "Janie Lynn" where they begin fully acapella. If you don't get chills from that one... check your pulse! The catchy "River Roll," a song about floating down an East Texas river, is one of my favorite parts of their show. They incorporate an incredible cover of The Doobie Brothers’ "Black Water" with drummer and vocalist Lyndon Hughes being the star of this one. One of the most surprising moments was Paul Eason giving us a beautiful performance of "Canción del Mariachi" with Sean Rodriguez joining him on vocals. Zane Williams stripped it down with a solo "The King Snake and The Rattler."
The show was filled with toe tapping songs like "Company Man" and "Work to Do" and the fan favorite "Dixie Darlin'" that had everyone singing along. The highlight of the show for me was, "Wave Dancer," their unreleased song only available (for now) on their patron program, The Hideout. (Read more about this below). Such a beautiful song and another moment where their incredible harmonies take center stage.
They closed the show with an encore performance of the bluegrass-heavy "Ghost of Lincoln."
And, with that.. everyone was left speechless from the amazing show they just witnessed.
This band is so full of talent. Each member is not only plays instruments but sings vocals as well. And, they do an incredible job of letting each person get the spotlight at some point during the show. Which, as a fan is so fun to watch.
I'm genuinely such a huge fan of these guys and I hope you all get a chance to see them live. They truly deserve all the success in the world!
