Tanner Usrey Sells-Out Chicago

Carol’s Pub on a Wednesday in Chicago was the setting for one of the best concerts you probably missed. If you caught yourself staying home on a Wednesday, then you missed two up-and-coming artists that will soon be household names.

The night kicked off to a quickly filling room as soon as Arkansas native JD Clayton took the stage. JD first captured the Chicago crowd when he opened for Jackson Dean at Joe’s in 2022. Now back with a brand-new album “Long Way From Home”, JD and the band were ready to heat up Chicago once again. JD was also just nominated for multiple Arkansas CMA’s including Entertainer of the year & Songwriter of the year.

The stage was set for Tanner Usrey, this being his first headline show in Chicago & it was welcomed by a Sold-Out crowd. This is also Tanner’s return to the Windy City as 2022 bought him to Joe’s on Weed to open for Read Southhall Band. I think the fans he made that night are what sold out Carol’s. The bar was wall-to-wall packed on a Wednesday night. Tanner made his way to the stage with just an acoustic guitar in tow, strumming a crowd favorite “Come Back Down”.

“tell me darlin', how's your mom been? How's the weather where you are? 'Cause me, I've been better, Still chasing dreams, still shootin' at stars.”

This was probably the perfect way to open his Sold-Out night in Chicago. The band joined him midway through the song. The show started on a huge high note and never slowed down. Tanner owned the stage with every song in his 19-song set list even playing some new music. For the encore Tanner emerged again with just his acoustic guitar and played a haunting version of “Josephine”, the crowd was so in awe you could hear a pin drop. He then called the band back up for a jam of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘The Chain”. This is a must-see show if Tanner Usrey comes anywhere close to you. He has a busy 2023, and there are no signs that his career will ever slow down.
