2022 "CMT ARTISTS OF THE YEAR" Honorees Announced!
CMT will honor Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, Kane Brown, Walker Hayes, and Luke Combs at their 2022 "CMT Artists of the Year special at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on October 14th at 9 pm/8C on CMT. In the last year, these artists have given every ounce of themselves on the stage, radio, and TV. For the first time, they are honoring Walker Hayes, Carly Pearce, and Cody Johnson. For Kane Brown and Luke Combs, this will be their third time being honored. They were both honored back in 2019, 2021, and 2022. They all have broken genre hurdles and continually breaking records across the board.
Carly Pearce has been on fire with having a third #1 off her album "29: Written in Stone. She has been on tour with Kenny Chesney's summer stadium tour. Her biggest #1 hit was with Ashley McBryde "Never Wanted To Be That Girl". This was only the second time in almost 30 years that a female duet has dominated the charts that high.
Kane Brown rose to fame from his Facebook videos he would post. In 2022 he was the first male country artist to do a solo performance at the MTV VMAs. He has had eight #1s with his latest being his hit song "Like I Love Country Music". Kane has had just about 12 billion streams.
Walker Hayes became popular with his hit song "Fancy Like". After posting a dance video with his daughter to the song on Tik Tok his career set off to crazy heights. With "Fancy Like" he received his first Grammy nomination. Following that success, he then released "AA" and also did another Tik Tok dance video with his daughter.
Cody Johnson has swung those rodeo gates wide open on his #1 hit "Till You Can't" and has been streamed over 400 million times worldwide for that song. He has a fairly new album out called " Human The Double Album" and it is amazing! In his documentary "Dear Rodeo" he was on the CMT Campfire Sessions, where he received CMT Digital- First Performance of the Year for the song he sang and co-wrote "Dear Rodeo". Cody Johnson just announced his headlining tour last week. He is almost at 4 billion streams worldwide and growing every day.
Luke Combs has been on an amazing ride this past year receiving his 13th #1 for his smash hit " Doin This". His latest song " The Kind of Love We Make" is moving its way up the charts to possibly become his 14th #1. He is currently holding onto the highest award for CMA Entertainer of the Year and is up for it again this year. He just recently announced his HUGE stadium World Tour that will be on 3 continents.
This CMT special will have some big names in music performing the honoree’s songs. They will have other honorees there as well. I am hoping to see either Morgan Wallen, HARDY, or Mitchell Tenpenny. These honorees will soon be announced so keep an eye out on CMT’s social media for the latest news.
